Cheshunt 2 Romford 1

13 Oct 2016

The Ambers moved into 2nd place, three points off the top of the league with two games in hand when they came from behind to beat a lively Romford side on Tuesday night.

Romford attacked with pace from the start taking the game to Cheshunt, going close on several occasions & forcing multiple corners. They deserved to go to the break one up courtesy of a Chinedu McKenzie strike on the run.
Manager Paul Wickenden gave further instruction to the Ambers & the second half was a different story, Romford found themselves pinned back in their own half & often defending desperately in their own box, ten minutes in Billy Jones latched on to a loose ball in the box and lashed home his 9th league goal of the season. Cheshunt continued to press & the winner came on 71 minutes when Jason Hallett burst into the box, and while stumbling to the ground, still found the back of the net despite the close attention of defender & goalkeeper.

The Ambers are away on Saturday 15th v Great Wakering Rovers, then have a run of 3 home games on the spin.
