Cheshunt U18’s ease into next round of the FA Cup!

22 Sep 2017

Massive well done to young Cheshunt FC U18 youth side, who ran out 5-0 winners against Hullbridge Sports in the first round of the FA Youth Cup.

Cheshunt started the game quickly and nearly opened the scoring on 10 minutes when Harrison Cage volleyed over at the far post. However, it wasn’t long before Cheshunt took the lead. On 15 minutes Scott Cleland-Knight broke down the right hand side and crossed to the far post where Harrison Cage rose to plant his header in the right hand corner of the net. The lead was doubled on 26 minutes from the penalty spot. Alex Hadjithemistou drove in to the box and was upended by a Hullbridge defender. George Smith converted emphatically putting the ball in to the top left hand corner of the net. On 33 minutes Cheshunt got their 3rd. A cross from the left hand side was met by George Smith who glanced his header in to the far corner of the net. The second half saw Cheshunt miss a number of chances but the fourth goal finally come on 53 minutes when after a goal mouth scramble George Smith was on hand to put the ball in to the net and complete his hatrick. The fifth goal came on 85 minutes when Sam Cross whipped in a vicious free kick which the goal keeper done well to parry but Harrison Cage was on hand to tap in the rebound and claim his second of the night.

Another good performance by the under 18’s who march in to the next round.
