Club Statement: Ambers Part Company with Paul Wickenden

29 Aug 2017

Following recent performances Cheshunt FC yesterday parted company with manager Paul Wickenden

Paul has been at the club since 2015 and brought immediate improvements with the side challenging for a play-off position in the 2105/16 season. The side topped the table part way through the following season, but a poor end to the campaign saw the club finish an unexpected 10th.

While reinforcing the side over the summer, the squad has not shown the required improvement from last season. The club realise that Paul has worked hard to improve performances, but this has not been evident in results and it was decided that a change was needed.

The club would like to thank Paul for all his hard work during his time with the club. Chairman Dean Williamson said ‘This has not been an easy decision. No one has tried harder than Paul to make the improvements necessary to challenge for promotion this season. Sadly, the results haven’t been good enough, not just based on the last four league games but looking back over the last 15 games. After last season we were hoping for an improvement in the close season but this has not materialised so far this campaign. I would personally like to thank Paul for all his hard work with the club and he leaves with my very best wishes for the future.’

The club will now assess its options. Further updates will follow.
