Paul Wickenden Talks About The Performance at Hornchurch and Looks Forward to the Tilbury Home Fixture

08 Feb 2016

Paul felt that the victory at Hornchurch was one where the players had to really dig deep to come away with the three points and he felt that there was proof that his players can adapt increasingly well to difficult games in adverse conditions.

‘The lads showed a tough side to their game, and our spirit throughout the match showed a strong togetherness; we demonstrated a real will to win. In the second half in particularly I felt that we really showed some steel as Hornchurch were fighting hard to get back into the match.
There wasn’t a player out there who didn’t have a good game and I have praise for every single one of them but I did think that Tom Fletcher put in a great performance and it was really pleasing to see Jason Hallett bag his brace and become the league’s leading scorer.’

When asked about the next fixture against Tilbury Paul commented ‘it is obviously a very big game for the team, as they all will be now. I have enormous respect for Tilbury Football Club and am very aware of the strong run they were on prior to hitting their slight current dip in form. We will need to be at our best and I am confident that if we do that then a positive result should be the outcome’.
