With Remy Lewis taking a break from football,  Cheshunt FC sought a new Head Coach/Manager for the Women’s senior team & last week appointed Steve McCarthy. Steve has worked in both the men’s and women’s game. Most recently he has been coaching at London Tigers Men’s FC in the Spartan Midland League, and built up his coaching experience in the women’s game working at both Harlow Town Ladies and Stevenage FC Women.
Steve is a Project Manager in his ‘day job’ and has a lot of experience planning & executing which he brings to his football coaching too. He is investing time & effort into his coaching, and is currently in the process of obtaining his UEFA B Licence.
We will give Steve time to get to know Cheshunt FC and his squad, then update everyone with a video interview, On catching up with Steve for his initial thoughts he advised us  “I’m absolutely delighted to be appointed Manager of Cheshunt FC Women and cannot wait to get started. After meeting with Dean and the some of the players, I was able to see the ambition everyone has for the Women’s side. I knew from that meeting that this was a project I wanted to be involved in, to help bring success to Cheshunt FC Women.
I hope to bring an attractive and attacking brand of football to the club and after watching the players in training, I am confident we have excellent foundations to build upon and strengthen over the coming weeks.”
Cheshunt Sports & Leisure Chairman, Dean Williamson stated;  ”After the success of promotion last year & the progress being made introducing Womens’ and Girls’ teams to Cheshunt FC it was important we maintained the path of positive progress and continuity during change, the adoption of the girls’ teams into the Youth set up and the appointment of Steve are two major steps to ensuring we achieve everyones’ objectives this season.”
Welcome to Cheshunt Steve.
