2-2

This fixture didn’t take place at all last season, a victim of football having to shut down, home & away matches took place in 2019/20 when first Lewes visited Theobalds Lane in November when the Ambers were still finding their feet in the Premier division. Lewes returned to the coast with 3 points from a 2-0 win, courtesy of goals from James Hammond & Leon Redmond.

In the return fixture at the Dripping Pan Cheshunt didn’t get off to the best of starts when they allowed Dayshonne Phillips to wander through unmarked to score after only two minutes, however cheered on by the travelling support they made amends by taking Lewes apart with a fast passing game resulting in a 6-1 win with 2 goals for Reece Beckles Richards, and one apiece for Mo Camara, Zack Newton, Ryan Moss & Amadou Kassarate.

Whilst Cheshunt have retained much of last years squad there have been major changes at Lewes with former Cray Wanderers  Manager Tony Russell replacing Hugo Langton & bringing a number of Cray Wanderers players with him.  Fate saw the two teams drawn to play each other in the season opener & The Wands beat The Rooks 3-1.  With Cheshunt keeping a clean sheet and scoring three in their opener, while Lewes will be keen to get some points on the board, they will surely be wary of The Ambers attack,  Two experienced managers will set their teams up well, it should be a good match to watch.

The Dripping Pan has recently been voted the favourite Premier League ground by away fans and is well worth a visit, look out for the Beach Hut Executive boxes.  Last time Cheshunt visited they ran out of beer, here’s to The Ambers having another result to celebrate & we can do it again!
