The opening stages of the match saw the home side threaten from set pieces with Mo Camara & Taylor Mackenzie going close. Margate weathered the storm & started to work the ball wide but the Cheshunt defence held firm, until playing the ball out from the back a loose ball inside was picked off by Vance Bola who placed a passed shot just inside the post for the opening goal.
Cheshunt reacted and dominated the rest of the half earning a reward through good build up play from the left putting Reece Beckles Richards within shooting range, and needing no further invitation his shot took a slight deflection to take it beyond Margate keeper Pat Ohman.
The second half saw both teams graft but fail to capitalise on good build up play, final balls not finding the feet of an attacker. Both defences stood firm & smothered with numbers where needed. Margate did get the ball in the net from a goal mouth scramble after a corner but an offside call came to the home side’s rescue.  Cheshunt continued to threaten Beckles Richards , Newton & Re  had half chances, but as time wore on substitutions for both sides failed to ignite a spark worthy of a winner,
