It was top vs third at The Stadium for this much postponed fixture and it was the visitors who started strongly when on 3 minutes they had a free kick which went past all the Leigh Ramblers players in the Cheshunt penalty area, there was no one for that vital touch which would have seen the visitors take the lead. There was then a long delay after an Leigh Ramblers player received treatment, after colliding with the Cheshunt goalkeeper. The game restarted with the visitors still on top. They came close to scoring again on 7 minutes when one of the Ramblers forwards was almost through one on one with Sarah Walker in the Cheshunt goal, but fantastic defending by Aliyah Anthony and new signing Olivia kept them at bay.
Cheshunt then started to get into the match and a few minutes later the hosts had a free kick where Charlotte Grogan’s shot was saved by the Leigh Ramblers goalkeeper. Cheshunt started to control the first half and on 33 minutes they took the lead. A lovely low driven cross from Karesha Iton found Charlotte Grogan who passed the ball to new signing Jasmine and her shot was push out by the Leigh Ramblers goalkeeper but only as far as Charlotte Grogan who scored from close range to make it 1-0 to Cheshunt.
Near the end the half, Cheshunt came close to making it 2-0, a lovely pass from Chloe found Karesha but her shot was smothered by the Leigh Ramblers goalkeeper.
The second half began just as the first half had ended with Cheshunt on the front foot, with some great passing looking for another goal. On 53 minutes the hosts made it 2-0, a great run from Chloe found Fran Gamble in a lot of space and she let fly from 25 yards shooting into the top corner of the goal to give her 12th goal of the season. Cheshunt came close to making it 3-0 with half an hour left to play. Fran Gamble’s lob was well saved by the Leigh Ramblers goalkeeper, and with Cheshunt dominating the match now, more goals seemed likely. On the hour mark a great pass from Victoria Wotton found Karesha and her shot just went wide of the post. There was another chance with only 10 minutes left when The Ambers came very close to making it 3-0, Chloe’s great pass found new signing Jasmine who went one on one, and again another great save by Leigh Ramblers goalkeeper kept the score down. The final chance came with 5 minutes to go, Victoria Wotton won the ball back in midfield and found Karesha whose shot was on target but again the goalkeeper closed the angles down and made the save.
