The Rotary Shoebox scheme is a registered charity, operating for over 25 years helping disadvantaged people in particular in Eastern Europe. The scheme has warehousing & transportation as well as established links with charitable organisations in Ukraine, Romania, Poland, & Moldova, the very countries absorbing the influx of refugees at this time.  Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and indiscriminate actions have left the region with millions of refugees.  Families have become homeless in the Ukraine over the last few weeks through no fault of their own, and fled the warfare, having to cross borders to be safe, with only what they can carry to sustain them.

Cheshunt FC have arranged delivery of hundreds of ‘shoeboxes’ to distribute, fill and return to make a contribution helping the effort in Ukraine & surrounding countries.

The boxes cost just £2 each, this covers the cost of collection and delivery to Eastern Europe. You can collect a box or boxes from the Club Office during the day, from the bar in the evenings,  or e mail programme@cheshuntfc.com for multiple boxes to arrange a collection.  The boxes come with a list of suggested items you may wish to consider, (and items we should avoid) but it is your choice as to what you put in your box (within the guidelines) and to whom you would like the content to support. It can be for a baby, a small child, a teenager, or general household items.

You may wish to engage your children for ideas as to what goes in the box, could they imagine what they might like to find in a box? alternatively make a note of all the activities you undertake during the day, and jot down what you have used, will these items fit in a shoebox?  We have made a start, will you join us please?
