25/04/22.     There was an influx of boxes coming back last week which bumped our numbers up, special thanks to Karen at Christ Church Trinity Lane, Carol, Kate & students at Pinewood School, Maria, Pino & Joel and the SOEH team, Mark at Dontel Supplies & Carol Harwood for helping us distribute an collect across the community.

We have a few boxes still available for people that would like to join us in this worthwhile exercise, and we have 100 boxes still being filled, please bring them back to the Office or Sports Bar to be included in the next transport schedule. If you have multiple boxes please e mail programme@cheshuntfc.com and we can arrange a collection. As a club we are also using our facilities to help other local co ordinators to store their boxes, until they have enough for transportation, combining them with ours will keep costs down in the UK and enable more support to be channelled to where it is really needed.

Joel & Pino help unload the SOEH boxes.

The first 280 boxes from all of you generous people have started their journey towards the Ukrainian refugees taking shelter in neighbouring countries. On Thursday last Kinga, the Kings Transport driver arrived and we loaded 280 boxes onto a pallet and into the lorry

Half way there, another 140 to go on top                 Kinga, Carol & Howard, job done, time for a tea.

15/04/22.  The Co Ordinators of the Rotary Shoebox scheme were pleased to report a second container with 11,000 boxes left Felixstowe container port bound for Chisinau Moldova on April 4th where local Rotarian contacts in Chisinau will distribute them to the Ukrainian refugees sheltering there.

Here at Cheshunt FC we have passed the 250 boxes returned mark and we have arranged for these to start their journey, they are being collected on April 21st.

There are another 100 boxes still being filled by everyone in our community, we have local businesses, local people, schools, churches as well as the players, coaches and supporters all filling boxes, it has been a fantastic response to such a tragic situation. We have a few boxes left if you know anyone that would like to participate, With the first 300 due for collection we turn our attention to completing the next 100 and making sure they start their journey and make a difference.

If you would like your photograph taken with your box before sending it on it’s way, please contact Howard via e-mail programme@cheshuntfc.com

Again, Many Thanks Everyone

31/03/22.  A huge thank you from Cheshunt FC and the Rotary Shoebox Scheme to all of you recognising and contributing to the refugee crisis being generated by Ukrainians having to abandon their homes to escape the escalating conflict in their own country.

We only have 40 of the 400 boxes left to be taken away and filled,  We have 160 boxes returned already, and look forward to seeing many more come back in the next week or two. We have made plans to get the first returns shipped to the Rotary Scheme warehouse when we get to 200.  So now is the time to drop off your boxes at the office or Sports Bar please, if you have multiple boxes please e mail programme@cheshuntfc.com and we can arrange a collection.

Colin Ince, a trustee of the scheme has updated us that a container of 11200 boxes on a ship bound for Odessa Ukraine has been removed at Istanbul due to the uncertainty of operations at Odessa, and has been transported to the Poland-Ukraine border by road. Another container of 11000 boxes are planned  to route to  Moldova, where the Scheme have well established charity contacts ready to distribute them to Ukrainians taking refuge in Moldova.  The boxes we are filling and sending will form the next shipment, so let’s see if we can get them back and where they are most needed.

The Red Cross bucket saw some very generous activity from many of you when it did the rounds recently, and we will continue to give it a shake at the home matches coming up. We are very pleased to report we have already deposited £367-00 with the Red Cross and look forward to supporting them further.
