It was a quick start for the home team as they looked to turnaround their current form to maintain a place in the play off places. A corner delivered by Jebb, was not fully cleared  After a couple of flicks it fell to Rooney who flicked it into the top corner. Not a great start for the Ambers, but they settled down & played some good football to set up opportunities in front of the home goal. Good interplay between Newton, Obiero, Cue & Beckles Richards caught the Hawks defence square on several occasions.

Tyrelle Newton was causing the home team a lot of problems on the Cheshunt right , and a drive forward on the right hand side with a squared  ball to Beckles-Richards produced a shot , keeper Sharman-Lowe could only parry into the six yard area,  after the Hawks failed to clear their lines Fraser Alexander smashed home an equaliser.

The Hawks could have scored when Rooney found himself one-on-one with Desbois, but inexplicably squared a pass instead of shooting,  and Matthews skied it over the bar.  Joe Newton remained attentive to deny Tyrelle Newton from putting Cheshunt into the lead as he twisted & turned en route to goal.

HT – Havant & Waterlooville 1, Cheshunt 1

An early shot from Jebb was well saved by Desbois, and goalscorer Rooney had another attempt blocked. In reply
The Ambers pounced on a Sharman-Lowe miskick, and moved it quickly across the front line to Reece Beckles-Richards who curled an effort from 20 yards just shy of the far post with the keeper beaten.

The introduction of the substitutes from Havant gave the home side fresh traction & they forced a number of corners & free kicks, but the Cheshunt back line stood firm to a man & repelled attacks and fed Newton & Obiero whose spin turns & feints were buying space to time passes into Cue & Beckles Richards.

Cheshunt dug in for the last quarter and battled well against a side full of full time players with League experience, seeing out the match with only one scare in time added, when an athletic clearance on the line from Billy Cracknell saved the match to ensure Cheshunt secured a valuable point
