The session is a series of runs split into two halves, over 400m, 200m, 100m, 50m and 30m interspersed with recovery walks inbetween. The distance covered is comparable to the likely ground covered in a ninety minute match, the session today was based on the ground covered by James Ward Prowse, the Southampton FC midfielder, in a typical match.  Those taking part have been specifically invited or recommended by Craig’s network of contacts.

The session in the heat is gruelling and gives players and coaches a good indication of fitness levels & ability to last for ninety minutes, some will have work to do, some clearly have already been working & maintained some very impressive levels.

The session is completed with a warm down, and then ice bath to aid recovery, followed by a pasta meal in the Sports Bar.  Have a look through the pictures, you may find a few familiar players in there, and definitely some exciting new ones.

Very well done to everyone completing the session, you only do it once, training evenings will be a little more conventional now & the balls will be out of the bag.

The open trials for players hoping to win a place in this year’s squad, follow tomorrow (Sunday) , and the paperwork has finally been out on the desk, we can expect  news on players retained from last season & some exciting new signings during this coming week as Craig looks to build his squad,  ready for a tilt at what appears to be a very competitive Isthmian Premier League.
