Ambers fans will be hoping for their first win in five league games as they host Margate in an early six pointer at Theobalds Lane on Tuesday.
The Hosts – Cheshunt
The Ambers come into this game with five defeats in their last five fixtures. The last three fixtured have all ended in a 3-2 defeat, the most recent being a defeat to Chatham Town on Saturday. Despite the defeat, the Ambers performed well at The Bauvill Stadium. The first half finished goalless, but the Ambers created many opportunities. Goals from forwards Nnamdi Nwachuku and Vas Vasiliou gave Cheshunt hope but they were unable to get the win.
Cheshunt were pleased to announce two new signings this month. Goalkeeper Woody Williamson joined on loan from Ipswich and midfielder Sam Granville has been loaned in from Barnet. Both made their debuts at Chatham on Saturday, with Granville impressing especially. Craig Edwards will be hoping both are available to make their home debuts at Theobalds Lane on Tuesday night.
The Visitors – Margate
Margate sit in 18th place in the Isthmian Premier League. They are without a win in their previous fourteen fixtures in all competitions. Their last victory was a 2-0 win over Lewes on the 4th November 2023. Last month, the Gate parted company with manager & former Amber Reece Prestedge after a very poor run of form. They swiftly hired Mark Stimson, he is known by many non-league fans for his spells at Thurrock and Hornchurch. Despite improving the team’s style of play, it hasn’t gone how Margate fans would’ve hoped so far. Stimson is yet to pick up a victory in his six games at the helm, scoring just five goals.
Despite a poor season for the team so far, Steve Cawley has impressed at Hartsdown Park. Striker Steve Cawley has scored thirteen goals so far this season, including three in his previous two games. Cawley scored a brace away to Whitehawk before his team a point against Concord Rangers last week, scoring a first half equaliser. Rohdell Gordon is also a player to watch on Tuesday night for the away side. The former Stevenage winger’s direct runs and chance creation can cause trouble for a lot of defences.
Head-to-Head – Cheshunt vs Margate
The two teams have been very evenly matched previously. They have played each other five times with Cheshunt winning two, Margate winning one and two score draws.
The most recent fixture was at Hartsdown Park earlier in the season. Cheshunt came out 1-2 winners in August thanks to goals from Bobby Unwin and James Meehan. Both of which have since left the club, Phil Roberts was the Margate scorer that night, the former Arsenal academy player will be looking to find the back of the net again this time out.
