Cheshunt FC are pleased to announce the signing of defender Billy Bates.  Manager Craig Edwards was quick to react when hearing of the availability of Bates, and having met the player started the Admin wheels turning to ensure an early registration.

Local player Billy was once a mascot for the Ambers a few years back, always kicking a ball around the Theobalds Lane stadium & back pitches while his Father watched matches. Billy went on to start his football with Cheshunt Youth FC, he showed a lot of potential very early on and caught the attention of a number of pro clubs.  He spent time with Leyton Orient & Norwich as a teenager before moving to West Ham in 2020.  An ACL injury left Billy without game time in the 2020/21 season, but he came back to sign a professional contract with the Hammers, representing them at u18 & u21 level.  Billy has made the move to Cheshunt FC to gain more game time & experience at senior level.

Billy has been a regular visitor to the club over recent years & is keen to get started back in an Ambers shirt, he is available for tonights match vBillericay in the Velocity Cup and the week end League fixture at home to Whitehawk FC.

Cheshunt FC would like to thank West Ham United FC for their assistance in ensuring a smooth transition.
