There is plenty of Non League Day fun this weekend as the Ambers host Carshalton Athletic at Theobalds Lane. There will be a DJ, face painting, sweets and more before the match as we help to fund raise for Prostate Cancer UK and the local Broxbourne food bank. We will also be joined by YouTube content creator Eman SV2 at the Stadium.
The Hosts – Cheshunt
The Ambers come into this game in their best form of 2024 after back-to-back home victories against Concord Rangers and Folkestone Invicta. The win over Folkestone on Tuesday evening helped to increase the gap above the relegation places to eight points. It also decreased the gap between Cheshunt and Folkestone in 17th to just six points.
Craig Edwards’ side earned the massive three points thanks to goals from Alfie Pendlebury and a brace of spot kicks from Nnamdi Nwachuku. Invicta took the lead early on before Pendlebury levelled it up just before the break. Nnamdi then gave us the lead after 65 and then put us two to the good with fourteen minutes to play. A late goal from Seidou Sanogo worried the Ambers fans but the team held out for all three points.
The Visitors – Carshalton Athletic
The Robins have had a very impressive season so far, they currently sit in sixth place, just a point off the play off places. They have been very impressive going forward this season, scoring 64 goals in 35 games, the fourth most in the Isthmian Premier Division. This has been massively boosted by the form of their top scorer Oluwabunmi Babajide. The 20-year-old has netted 16 times in 37 matches, a terrific return for his first season at this level.
Peter Adeniyi’s side are currently enjoying a very good run of form, they are undefeated in eight matches in all competitions. This included a home victory over Chatham and an away win against Horsham. Their most recent fixture was a comfortable 3-0 home victory over Margate on Saturday, Goals from Kwaku Frimpong, Charlie Kennett and Luke Read made sure of the victory.
Head-to-Head – Cheshunt vs Carshalton Athletic
The Ambers have faced the Robins on five occasions in recent times. Carshalton come out on top with four wins with Cheshunt winning on just one occasion, but this was this season.
The most recent match between the two sides was Cheshunt’s huge 1-4 win in December at the War Memorial Sports Ground. Goals from Andre Godfrinne, Nathaniel Orafu and a brace from Vas Vasiliou earned the Ambers all three points. A late goal from Babajide was just a consolation as Cheshunt fully deserved the win.
