The points were shared at the Len Salmon as the Tags fight back after a brilliant first hour for Cheshunt. The Ambers confirmed their safety in the Isthmian Premier Division for next season.

Craig Edwards made three changed from the team that beat Horsham midweek, due to injuries. Finlay Titchmarsh and Nnamdi Nwachuku were not deemed fit enough to start so they were replaced by Antonis Vasiliou and Alfie Pendlebury. This meant Enock Ekongo returned to right back after impressing on the wing on Tuesday. Tuesday night’s hero Chevron McLean dropped out of the squad and was replaced by Lordon Akolbire in the starting line-up, the defender returned from a spell at National League North side Bishops Stortford.

The tags made a fast start with Camilo Restrepo causing trouble from the right wing. However, it was right back Jermaine Anderson that created a huge chance early on, his cross found Alex Teniola at the back post. His header found the target, but it was brilliantly saved by Sami Nabbad, and Tom Anderson put the follow up wide.

Despite a positive start from the Tags, Cheshunt looked dangerous on the attack, and we made it count just before the ten-minute mark, A corner in from Taylor Miles was spilled by the goalkeeper and Jamie Reynolds was there to smash the Ambers into the lead from close range.

The game continued to be end to end, Sak Hassan was brought down by Enock Ekongo on the left and earned a freekick. Hassan’s ball found Anderson at the front post but he header just wide of the near post. The chances continued to come for the Ambers as the fans behind the goal cheered them on. Taylor Miles had a shot go just wide of the post after some brilliant play in the build up by player of the season Nathaniel Orafu. Miles made it two nil to the Ambers with an excellent freekick. Sam Granville was fouled twenty- five yards away from goal. The skipper stepped up and hit it perfectly into the top right corner, unstoppable for Joshua Strizovic. A repeat of the freekick he scored against the same opponents at Theobalds Lane earlier in the season.

The Tags got one back just over five minutes before the break, Jermaine Anderson’s ball in from the right found Alex Teniola after escaping the Ambers defence, he headed it into an empty net.

HT: Hashtag United 1-2 Cheshunt

It was a very bright start to the second half for the visitors and it paid off. We regained our two-goal lead after a brilliant goal from Alfie Pendlebury. Nathaniel Orafu picked out Alfie in the penalty area, he drove towards goal and smashed it past Strizovic in the Hashtag goal.

Five minutes later, the Ambers went close again. Sam Granville made a run down the right, he hit a brilliant ball across the face of goal which just missed Pendlebury, but did find Orafu at the back post who was only able to find the side netting from a tight angle.

Cheshunt had an even bigger chance after an hour. Sam Granville picked up the ball on the left this time, he picked out Alfie in the box this time. The big number nine got a shot away, but Strizovic was equal to it with a brilliant save. Just a couple of minutes later, Alex Teniola scored his second of the match. The dangerous Sak Hassan picked the ball up on the left, he beat two Cheshunt defenders and cut it back to Teniola who headed home for his fourteenth goal of the season.

Sak Hassan was continuing to cause problems for the Cheshunt defence with ten minutes to go. He cut inside from the left and fired a shot at goal, but it was tipped over the top by Ambers keeper Sami Nabbad.

It was heartbreak at the death for a tired Cheshunt as substitute Luke May-Parrott snatched a late equaliser to earn the Tags a point in their final match at the Len Salmon Stadium. A Sak Hassan corner wasn’t cleared, and it caused a scramble in the box. May-Parrott took advantage as he poked it home from close range.

FT: Hashtag United 3-3 Cheshunt.
