Fan Favourite Taylor Miles has left Cheshunt to sign again for Hanwell Town FC, a move he made a few years ago via Hayes & Yeading, before returning to captain the Ambers.

Programme Editor Jim Tuite looked back on his career to date.

Born in Watford, Taylor Miles was an Academy player at West Ham United, progressing to Under-18 level before being released. He made his debut in senior football with Concord Rangers, aged 19, towards the end of the 2013-14 season in a 0-2 home defeat to Bishops Stortford in the National League South.

Alongside him at Concord that season were Former and future Ambers Danny Spendlove, Jack Lampe and Jason Hallett. He made 50 appearances and scored 8 goals before moving to Braintree Town at the end of the 2014-15 season.

After one season at Cressing Road, he was transferred to Lincoln City, then of the National League. While the Imp’s won the title and returned to the Football League in 2016-17, Miles only made two first team appearances (both in the pre-season Lincolnshire Senior Cup) along with four outings as an unused substitute. Loans to Boston United and back to Concord Rangers filled an unhappy spell at Sincil Bank and he signed for Hemel Hempstead Town at the end of the season.

After 13 appearances for Hemel, Miles was on the move again, joining Kingstonian in November 2017, making ten starts and then Chelmsford City in January 2018. And it was whilst with the Clarets – where he made 34 appearances and scored one goal over two seasons – that he was loaned out to AFC Hornchurch. Making his debut on December 18th 2018 in a 0-0 draw at Margate, Miles would make 11 more appearances for the Urchins, his last being as a late substitute in their Isthmian League Cup semi-final 3-2 win over Bracknell Town in February 2019.

Back at Braintree, he was loaned out again, this time to Cheshunt, making his debut in a 2-1 win at Tooting & Mitcham United on March 23rd 2019 and would be an ever-present for the remainder of the season, including the Isthmian division one South Central Play-off final win over Bracknell, giving the Ambers a long awaited promotion back to level three football.

Miles left Braintree that summer, joining St Albans City and making 21 appearances before returning to Cheshunt in January 2020, appearing in almost every remaining game before the pandemic ended the season two months later.

He would hold his place in the side in the following covid-curtailed 2020-21 season and in the memorable 2021-22 promotion and Herts senior cup winning season, making valuable contributions to the Ambers success, but a serious knee injury against Wingate & Finchley in early March sidelined him for the final run in.

Miles regained his fitness over the summer but the newly promoted squad struggled at the start of the 2022-23 National League South campaign and Miles was one of several players who was quickly released, making only three appearances, the last being a 1-3 defeat off the bench at Slough.

Miles signed for Hayes and Yeading United in September 2022, making 35 appearances and scoring six goals before moving to Hanwell Town where he was a first team regular. To the delight of Ambers fans he returned to Cheshunt for the current season. He has 125 appearances , putting him in the Cheshunt FC 100 club, and has 11 goals to his name in his spells at Theobalds Lane, usually absolute bangers from free kicks, or calm & collected penalties into the corners.

Thank You for your contributions on and off the pitch Taylor, All Amber Fans wish you our very Best Wishes as you continue your career with Hanwell Town ,
