Margate visit Cheshunt for the first time in 2 years, the clubs having played each other once in each of the last two recently curtailed seasons.  Margate crept out of Theobalds Lane in 2019 with masks, stripy jumpers & all three points after an injury time penalty secured a 2-1 win with second half substitute Kadell Daniel scoring twice for ‘The Gate’.

The Ambers exacted revenge last season with a 2-0 win away at Margate in one of the first matches, in which the Ambers have appeared, that was ‘live streamed’ to supporters as matches were being played with restricted audiences.  Mo Camara & David Knight were on target for the Ambers that night.

Look out for the Margate ‘history’ kit today sponsored by Garage Rock band the Libertines, and should you be fortunate to get close enough you will see the names of Margate fans included within the design.

The teams sit next to each other in the early days of the league table, both have a win & a draw for four points, Margate pinched a 1-0 away at Wingate Finchley and earned a good draw at much fancied Carshalton Athletic,  The Ambers swept East Thurrock aside on opening day and had a stiffer test away at Lewes coming from behind twice to earn a draw.   What little form can be drawn from these early results suggests we should be in for a well contested match, where forwards will need to be at their best to beat well drilled defences.
