Cheshunt leapfrogged title rivals Herts Vipers, who lost at home to Leigh Ramblers this afternoon 1-3, with a comprehensive 5-1 away win against bottom side Billericay Women’s Development.
A Fran Gamble Hat-trick, her third in five matches this season, bringing Fran up to 11 goals in the league this season, Karesha Iton getting her fourth of the campaign and Charlotte Grogan getting her first for the Ambers was enough to set up next week’s home match against second place Leigh Ramblers.
After going 4-0 up within 12 minutes, the hosts started to come back into the match and defended well enough to hold off the visitors without conceding again in the first half.
A revitalised Blues started to trouble the Amber’s goal and in the 51st minute scored what was to be their only consolation goal.
Fran Gamble completed her hat-trick of hat-trick’s in the 70th minute to put the match result in no doubt.
Twenty goals scored in the first six matches and only five goals conceded shows the depth of the squad as they near the halfway point of the league season.
