Cheshunt 1 (Joe Re 49)
Slough Town 1 (Lee Togwell 55)
Half time; Cheshunt 0 – Slough Town 0
Referee: Farai Hallam
Attendance: 540
A game occasionally lit up by flashes of individual skill finished a draw. Slough Town opened much the brighter side skipper Matt Lench shooting wide when picking up a loose ball from a corner, one of many forced but defended well by Cheshunt. Ken Charles on his return had a shot blocked by Dennis at point blank range without knowing too much about it. Slough’s Elliot Benyon looked to flick a cross to the far post and ended up hitting it, and Amartey saw a good header fizz just over the bar.
Cheshunt livened up second half, Reece Beckles Richards slipped a through ball to Joe Re, the immediate opportunity was on his left, but he chopped back to wrong foot the defence and stroked home with his right. Slough’s Lee Togwell had spent the first half as the last man, but moved ahead of the defence in the second half and the move paid off when he was the free man picking up a clearance just inside the box and driving it into the roof of the net for the equaliser. Slough man of the match Francis Amartey was denied the goal his performance deserved when he outstripped the home defence from half way but met Cheshunt keeper Adam Desbois closing him down to make a blocking save, after which the keeper retired from play injured, to be replaced by Preston Edwards.
The home side pressed for a winner in the closing stages with Beckles Richards, Newton, Newton & Charles starting to click, Joe Re & Manny Maja went close with shots , but after seven minutes of additional time, the points were eventually shared.
