I’d like to say a big thank you to all the Cheshunt fans, players and staff who chipped in to our Food Bank collection last Saturday.
Food Bank collections have sprung up at football clubs all over the place, from Celtic and Liverpool, to Ipswich Town and Cheshunt.
The Fans Supporting Food Banks initiative is driven by the simple belief that when you’ve got hundreds or thousands of people together to enjoy the football, you can harness the collective power of your fanbase to make a massive difference in our communities.
We all know how hard it is at the moment, with the cost-of-living crisis, and by coming together as a fan base we’re able to make a real difference to those families in need of a helping hand.
This was our second collection, after we took in 288kg of food and supplies at home to Ebbsfleet back in December.  The Non League Day collection looks to have at least matched our previous collection which is an amazing achievement, I will update the club & fans with a final figure when it becomes available.
The Ultras and the stat geeks amongst us will have realised this means Cheshunt has a 100% win record on Food Bank days – just another reason to get on board!
I’d also like to say a special thank you to the Weymouth supporters for their contribution. Hunger and poverty don’t wear club colours, so neither can our response.
Come On You Ambers!
