Cheshunt host an in-form Cray Wanderers at Theobalds Lane this weekend as the Ambers look to climb away from the relegation places.

The Hosts- Cheshunt

Despite being in a poor run of form overall, Cheshunt come into this game with a positive mindset after getting a great draw away at Bognor Regis. The Rocks had won six league games in a row coming into the fixture, and were top of the form table, so this was a huge point for the Ambers. Despite being a goal and a man down after Jamie Reynolds saw red on the hour, a goal from substitute Dejon Noel-Williams earned his side a point at the MKM Arena.

Cheshunt have just one win in ten games, however Craig Edwards’ side have made every game in this poor run a battle and haven’t been swept aside easily much at all. This is a positive sign for the team, but Ambers fans will be hoping some of these good performances can turn into more points to keep them away from the relegation zone,

Marcel Elva-Fountaine made his Cheshunt debut at the weekend. The former Reading and Burnley academy defender impressed on his debut for the club. Kyle Bailey also arrived in the past week, appearing on the bench away at both Whitehawk and Bognor Regis. Both were hoping to make this home debuts against Margate on Tuesday, but as the game was called off, they will likely make their home debuts on Saturday afternoon.

The Visitors- Cray Wanderers

The Wands currently sit 16^th in the Isthmian Premier Division and are unbeaten in their last four league fixtures. This included victories over Wingate & Finchley and Carshalton Athletic. Their most recent game was at home to Concord Rangers on Sunday. Both goals came in the second half as Anthony Cook’s penalty cancelled out Ricky Modeste’s goal just over an hour in.

Cray have spread the goals around the team this season. Gary Lockyer has 10 league goals; Anthony Cook has 9 and Ellis Brown has scored 8. Cray supporters are huge fans of Gary Lockyer as he has scored some very impressive and important goals for Neil Smith’s side this season. On a more defence side, David Ijaha has impressed fans at Hayes Lane this season.

The two sides have faced each other four times in recent years with the Wands coming out on top. Cray have won two, Cheshunt have won one and there was also a draw. Cheshunt will be hoping to level the record at the weekend.

The most recent fixture back in September finished 2-1 to the home side at Hayes Lane. Cray took the lead just under 30 minutes in as Jamie Mascoll fired his side into the lead. The Ambers equalised midway through the first half thanks to a goal from Solomon Baugh. However, the Wands regained the lead with just over ten minutes to go after a goal from George Porter.
