Cheshunt 1 Tommy Wood 23
Dulwich Hamlet 1 Luke Wanadio 61
Attendance 466
A strong & physical Dulwich Hamlet tried to impose themselves on Cheshunt in the opening quarter & two free kicks & a corner had to be dealt with by R’avan Constable the Ambers goalkeeper, Cheshunt countered the visitors muscle with fast slick passing & competitive tackling. Darion Furlong went close with an overhead kick from a cleared corner, then Vas Vasiliou saw a volley beaten away by the keeper, only for striker Tommy Wood to pounce & score from close range.
On the stroke of half time Raul Da Silva had a goal for Cheshunt disallowed for a push, Tobias Braney slipped clear twice only for Horlick to get his angles right & save with his feet.
Cheshunt fullback Fionn Murphy was fortunate to see the flag for offside when one on one & dragging his man down.
Dulwich applied some pressure at the start of the second half & resorted to a constant barrage of long balls to test the home defence. Charlie Naylor on debut replaced injured Darion Furlong & was equal to the challenge, as was centre half partner Raul Da Silva, constantly getting the better in the aerial battles. It was a slick turn in midfield and a wide ball crossed low on the floor for once that saw the visitors equalise, with Wanadio & Jeffery queueing up un marked at the back post.
For Cheshunt Lordon Akolbire & MJ Muyembe forced good saves from Horlick. The Dulwich ‘out ball’ of Binnom Williams to Jeffery left to right saw the Dulwich man slip clear once, but Constable forced him wide enough to ensure he could only hit the post, Danny Mills blazing the rebound over.
Both sides made substitutions and went for the win & both created chances to take all the points, but sound goalkeeping & good defensive cover resulted in a well fought draw.
