Amber boss Craig Edwards tells us he is excited by the squad he is assembling
With lockdown beginning to loosen, and the very real prospect that we will be back in action before too long, I’m delighted that 14 players have already put pen to paper and signed with Cheshunt FC for the 2020/21 season.
Returning are Harry Girling, Ola Williams, Taylor McKenzie, Mo Camara, Tanasheh Abrahams, Fabion Simms, Joe Re, Jamie Reynolds, Zack Newton, Shane Cojocarel, young prospect Darius Ghinea and also player/assistant manager Mark Hughes. A very, very good set of players.
Hopefully we will not see a repeat of the injury crisis we had up until Christmas last season. As a result, having the quality of Fabs and Shane back fully fit, after missing virtually all last season is like getting in two new, fantastic signings.
Also joining is French striker Hassane Gassama. Hassane is a strong, pacy forward with an eye for a goal. We have also been successful in signing the much sought after striker Dwade James from Walthamstow. Goal Machine Dwade scored 64 goals in 60 appearances for the Stow, and chose to join us despite several offers from clubs at step 2 and 3.
French duo Ibrahim Diallo and Amadou Kassarate are in France currently, and have vowed to return after the Pandemic, as has prolific striker Ryan Moss. Taylor Miles has trials at a couple of step 2 clubs and we wish him well.
Reece Beckles-Richards has been recalled from his loan by parent club Wealdstone, and he will be missed both on and off the pitch.
Sean Cronin has decided to emigrate to a country just to the west of Bristol. We will miss Sean for his leadership and wholehearted and committed displays. We shared a few pints over our hotly contested home international darts matches, I hope the results have nothing to do with him leaving! I wish Sean & his lovely family all the very best for the future and thank him for his time in an Ambers shirt.
Having so many players return gives us a great base to work from, particularly as I felt that at the point last season was cut short we had developed to be more than a match for anyone.
We will add further strength to what is already a strong squad, and look forward with much optimism to the coming season.
