One community. One club.

Ambers launch new female pathway

14 Mar 2020

The Ambers are joined by the Amberettes.

Cheshunt Football Club are delighted to announce the creation of a new female pathway programme for girls and women football, which initially includes the launch of a Women’s first team and Wildcats programme for 5-11-year old girls. These are exciting additions to the club which already offers Senior, Youth, Inclusive and Walking football teams and is a natural step in the progression of the ‘One Club One Community’ offering.

Dean Williamson – Chairman says : ‘We will look to build a pathway of continuity and sustainability whereby the female section will truly become part of ”The Amber Revolution’’. We will widen awareness and ensure closer ties with the local community from the female perspective, working alongside the FA as part of their plans to double Women’s and Girls participation in football by the end of the 2020/21 season.

There has never been a pathway for young girls locally to aspire to wear the Cheshunt badge and become an ‘’Amberette’’. However there is now huge media interest and global sponsors interested in the Women’s game and, with this type of exposure, the opportunity for growth is now and the timing of the launch of the female pathway is perfect.

The Club has recently appointed Grant Palmer as Head of Women’s & Girls football to create and deliver the strategy. Grant has over twenty years’ experience in football, twelve of them working in female football from grassroots to professional clubs, most recently at Leyton Orient and Norwich City. Grant brings with him a wealth of knowledge and a vision to deliver success on and off the pitch’.

Grant Palmer – Head of Women’s & Girls football says: ‘I am extremely proud to have been given the opportunity to create & deliver a female pathway with Cheshunt FC at this exciting time in their journey. The club’s vision and facilities are amazing and the desire to support the growth of female football is so refreshing, this creates a perfect platform to build upon.

We are all great supporters of women’s football and this project will look to provide a professional, sustainable and progressive pathway of opportunity for the grassroots and elite female players of the future in the local community and beyond’.
