Ambers progress in FA Youth Cup

07 Sep 2017

Cheshunt are in the next round of the FA Youth Cup with a 5-0 away win over Ilford

Cheshunt started the game very quickly and pinned Ilford in their own half. The breakthrough game on 10 minutes when Harrison Cage worked some space on the left and whipped in a right footed cross which was met by Ergest Karaci on the volley at the far post.

Cheshunt continued to dominate and the lead was doubled when Chris Joseph rose above everyone in the box to head in a George Smith corner. Chances were created at frequent intervals by Cheshunt but it wasn’t until the 45th minute that the third goal was scored. Tola Showunmi done well to beat his man on the right hand side and deliver a perfect cross for Harrison Cage to head in at the far post.

The tempo slowed in the second half with Cheshunt maintaining possession well. The fourth goal came when Harrison Cage sent in yet another cross and George Smith guided his header with the deftest of flicks in to the far bottom corner of the net.  The victory was wrapped up when Sam Cross scored yet another towering header at the far post from a George Smith corner.

The reward is a home tie against either Hullbridge or Waltham Forest the week commencing 18th September.
