Cheshunt FC Pan Disability Ambers Continental Success !

06 Jun 2016

The Ambers Pan Disabilty team coached by George Lewzey & Dave Perry travelled to Belgium to compete in the The Roger Van Loo, G-Memorial tournament in Ghent , where a total of 28 teams from France, Belgium, Italy, Holland and Germany met. The tournament was well supported & the Ambers had the opportunity to fly the flag for Cheshunt FC , starring on Belgian TV during matches and in post tournament interviews!

The team kept clean sheets throughout the group stage and this was the foundation needed to finish in the top two to progress to the final.

Group Stages
ZVC Athletico Ertvelde 0 Cheshunt FC 0
Daring Brugge 0 Cheshunt FC 0
GFC Waasland-Beveren 0 Cheshunt FC 1
Zevergemse Stropkes 0 Cheshunt FC 3
Merelbeekse Duivels 0 Cheshunt FC 1

The Final
ZVC Athletico Ertvelde 0 Cheshunt FC 2

The Ambers met ZVC Athletico Ertvelde in the final and after the first half it was 0-0 as it was in the group stage. In the second half the Ambers opened the scoring early on, and had to defend well as Ertvelde pressed for an equaliser. Just before full time the Ambers had a quick break and scored a second to secure the trophy.

The tournament was well organised and very well supported, so a great achievement for the team who all enjoyed the experience and opportunity to play continental opposition. One of the Ambers so confident he even beat the local pro goalkeeper in the penalty shoot-out competition with a cheeky Rabona !

Very Well Done, The Coaches, The Players and The Supporters on a terrific achievement.
