EASTERN JUNIOR ALLIANCE CHAMPIONS.
Last Wednesday evening CYFC u13’s became the first team from the club to win an EASTERN JUNIOR ALLIANCE Champions Trophy.
After beating Ware FC to become the regional division winners they entered the champions competition of the four U13 EJA regional divisions.
Dispatching with CONCORD RANGERS (ESSEX) 5-4 on penalties after 1-1 draw in the semifinal , set them up for a Champions final against AFC SUDBURY (SUFFOLK)
The final was contested by two very good teams producing some fine football, Cheshunt had two early chances that were missed before AFCSudbury took the lead, when a long through ball caught out the Cheshunt defence and AFC Sudbury’s striker fired past keeper Nick Kasanias.
Cheshunt continued to play good football and deservedly equalised just before halftime through Sidney Martin.
The 2nd half started with Cheshunt being the more dominant team,and they took the lead when Joby Smith stroked the ball into the path of Louie Quinn-Harrison who sidestepped his opponent and rifled in a left foot shot that the AFC Sudbury custodian could not hang on to and prevent a goal. Cheshunt took control and wrapped up the game with 10minutes left when Sidney Martin raced onto a long ball and slotted past AFC Sudbury’s keeper, to confirm the CHAMPIONS CUP would be coming to THEOBALDS LANE for the first time.
A fantastic performance from the whole squad who are-;
