Our vision at Cheshunt Football Club is to create
a conference standard club and stadium
with first-class football and community facilities.
Sports facilities are very important to the local community. Our vision at Cheshunt Football Club is to create a conference standard club and stadium with first-class football and community facilities. Our facilities are continually improving, and we are now proud to boast some of the best playing, training and social facilities in non-league football. Below is a brief glimpse of the development and transformation of our facilities.
Cheshunt Sports Village
In May 2018 we resubmitted plans to Broxbourne Council for Cheshunt Sports Village. The development proposes:
A previous proposal for the Sports Village was refused in July 2017, despite being recommended for approval. The revised application is sensitive to the concerns of the Planning Committee and addresses the reasons for refusal.
The application follows various improvements that we have already undertaken to improve the club’s facilities. Cheshunt Sports Village is a joint venture scheme with Broxbourne Council that does not deliver a commercial return to us.
As owners of the club, we see the proposals as a logical next step in a process which is intended to ensure that the club has a bright future, whilst making a valuable contribution to the local community, of which we are also a part.

Innovative 3G Artificial Pitch
Brand new in 2015 is our full size floodlit FIFA1* artificial grass pitch (AGP) adjacent to the new stadium. Fitted with the UK’s latest artificial turf technology from TigerTurf, it’s the first time in the UK that the innovative system has been installed on a full size soccer pitch.
We were awarded £297,716 of National Lottery Funding from Sport England to help fund the AGP. It’s part of the club’s wider development of a new 16-acre training complex at our home on Theobalds Lane and is a huge asset to the club and the local area.
Major Stadium Refurbishment
Fans are amazed at the transformation of our Theobalds Lane ground. Boosted by a £150,000 grant from the Premier League, through the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF), the club undertook extensive stadium improvement works in 2015.
Seeing really is believing with the installation of new floodlights, a 165-seat covered grandstand, pitch perimeter fencing, team dug-outs, turnstiles and the re-surfacing of spectator areas. Not only do the improvements bring a visually enhanced look to the club, they also offer the wider community access to a fantastic football facility that is there for all to enjoy.
State Of-The-Art Training Complex (and TV Fame!)
In 2013, Cheshunt Football Club was granted planning permission to overhaul 16 acres of land to provide high quality senior and junior playing surfaces, including the installation of a sustainable drainage and irrigation system and a full size floodlit artificial pitch.
The ambitious plans caught the attention of BBC producers, who featured our application in the popular BBC2 documentary “Permission Impossible: Britain’s Planners”. The artificial pitch opened in 2015 with the first phase of grass pitches due for completion at the start of the 2016/17 season.
Our popular function suite was refurbished in 2014 to provide a versatile space for all uses and occasions. By day it’s an open plan space ideal for workshops, conferences and company training. At night, Club Amber transforms into a fantastic nightclub, complete with DJ booth and top of the range sound system, ambient lighting and fully licensed bar with masses of party room.
Amber Sports Bar
Back in 2012 our beloved clubhouse was the first to receive a much needed makeover. The dilapidated building was turned into a chic, bright and airy space with polished wood, exposed brick and comfortable seating. With a fully licensed bar and large-screen TVs showing major sporting events all year round, the stylish bar is the perfect place for watching great sport or for special occasions. Opened by former Spurs player Jake Livermore, it’s no surprise the Amber Sports Bar is the envy of all opposition fans!
