Cheshunt FC look forward to inviting you all back to Theobalds Lane on June 26th to enjoy an afternoon of football and an evening of entertainment as we host FC Romania & Great Wakering Rovers in a three way pre season tournament challenging for the Cheshunt FC Community Cup during the afternoon, followed by a presentation evening recognising the contributions of players & staff over the last two years, with players from the past & present attending.

We have received special permission to play the tournament by the Herts FA, as football is not permitted in June. The order of the tournament is as follows:

1.00pm FC Romania v Great Wakering Rovers

2.30pm Cheshunt v FC Romania

4.00pm Cheshunt v Great Wakering Rovers

Presentations will be from six pm onwards The Sports Bar, Club Amber & Amber Eats will all be available for refreshment during the day.

Manager Craig Edwards will have a full pre season squad of players on display, and having held his invitational trials the week before, may also have some new faces competing for a place in the final squad too.

Matches will be played in the stadium, on the pitch groundsman Darren Atkins has worked hard during lockdown to improve with great effect, entrance will be via the turnstiles on a ‘Donate at the Gate’ basis.

In previous seasons Cheshunt FC have selected a charity to support and made the day a Community Fun Day too. It has been difficult to plan too far in advance over the last six months, but as we emerge from the various lock downs and restrictions, we are pleased to share with you that this year we will be supporting the Willow Foundation, a national charity, managed & run locally in Hertfordshire.

The Willow Foundation believe in quality of life and quality of time. Willow is the only national charity working with seriously ill young adults aged 16 to 40 to fulfil uplifting and unforgettable Special Days.  It’s been difficult given the recent restrictions, but work continues and has adapted accordingly.  Sadly for some, it’s a last chance to fulfil a dream with the people that really matter. Thankfully for many more their Special Day is an important opportunity to put much-needed normality back into living. As restrictions lift, the Willow Foundation have moved quickly to get back delivering Special Days. This year they hope to fulfil 1,400 Special Days – a day to anticipate, to share and to remember when happy memories really do count.

The Willow Foundation is also the charity three of our fans are supporting in a charity cycle ride from Cheshunt FC to Folkestone Harbour on June 12th.  Tony Madden, Jim Tuite & Gary Fleming have been training hard & make their bid for glory & fundraising next week, you can read more about their exploits and catch up with pictures from their training runs here,   https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/folkestoneorbust

They  will be in attendance at the Community Day to sign autographs & rattle the cans. Please do come along, enjoy some live football and be entertained in the evening to help us continue to raise funds for a very worthwhile cause.

We hope to be free of any major Covid restrictions, but would ask all attendees to be aware of any still remaining as we strive to bring normality back to our club, community and country.  Please ensure you are able to retain a degree of social distance, and if requested wear a mask when moving through confined spaces.

In normal times June is the one month of the year the Football Association decree there is no football played, Cheshunt FC wish to express their thanks to the Hertfordshire FA for their understanding & permission to stage this tournament during June,
