Fine Display From Cheshunt Earns All Three Points at Thamesmead.

24 Feb 2016

This fixture had all the hallmarks of being a banana skin for Cheshunt. The main factors in this being that Thamesmead are recognised as a very good side and secondly of course that it was they who had home advantage.

Cheshunt though are made of stern stuff these days and took the lead through Jason Hallett. Thamesmead hit back through a penalty and at half time it was honours even.
The next half an hour was quite a battle with no team able to turn their good play into an advantage and it appeared the game was heading for a draw.

However with 16 minutes left on the clock Adam Bolle combined well with Jason Hallett to give the away side a very precious lead. Despite pressure from the home side ‘The Ambers’ held on to make it five wins out of five and in doing so raise themselves to fourth in the table.

Although subsequent fixtures mean that the team are now sitting in fifth it is still a remarkable run of form and the team deserve great credit for their consistency and self-belief.
