On The Road With The Amber Army.
Cheshunt FC will be hoping for a return to form on Wednesday evening as they travel to Hadley FC in the Hertfordshire Senior Challenge Cup.
The Ambers have won just one of their last six games in all competitions, which was a 2-0 victory over Bracknell Town in the league. Draws have come against Chalfont St Peter (1-1) and Chipstead (3-3), whilst defeats have come at the hands of Hanwell Town (3-1), Whitstable Town (4-3) and most recently Egham Town (2-1).
Despite that run of form Cheshunt are still third in the Bostik League South Central Division, although they trail leaders Marlow by five points.
Craig Edwards’ side progressed to this stage of the competition thanks to a 2-1 victory at Kings Langley at the end of October.
On the injury front Emile Aiken, Samuel Kifwasima and Jason Hallett all remain out along with long-term absentees Jack Lampe, Kyle Roberts and David Ompreon. Ricky Sappleton and Kojo Awotwi have both left the club to Haringey Borough and Maldon Town respectively. On a more positive front, Yvan Jourdan is available following a brief spell on the side-lines.
Ahead of the game, Craig Edwards commented, “It’s important to get that winning mentality back. We might bring in a few players to have a look at, along with those on the bench, and see if they can do a better job for us than what we did on Saturday.”
Hadley are flying high in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division, one level below the Ambers, sitting third after 18 games.
They have won five games in November, losing just once, their most recent game against Colney Heath (1-0). Those five successive victories came over London Tigers (5-0), Potton United (2-0), Harpenden Town (1-0), Wembley (2-1) and Cockfosters (2-0).
The Bricks have already seen off higher division opposition in the Hertfordshire Senior Challenge Cup, as they defeated Ware 1-0.
They have no apparent injury concerns.
The game takes place on Wednesday evening at Brickfield Lane, postcode EN5 3LD. Kick off is at 7.30pm and admission prices are just £6 adults, £3 concessions and free for U16s.
