Cheshunt return to league action this weekend as Horsham make the trip to Theobalds Lane.

The Ambers’ FA Cup adventure came to an end last weekend following a 4-1 defeat to National League South side Maidstone United, and Craig Edwards’ side will now be focusing on climbing the league.

It was been a mixed start to the season for Cheshunt after taking seven points from the first seven games, and after a run of four league games without victory the Ambers picked up three points in their last league outing with a 2-1 win away to Bognor Regis Town.

Dipo Akinyemi, Sean Cronin and Yoan Mark-Oliver are available for selection after missing Saturday’s FA Cup defeat due to being cup-tied, however Ola Williams, Fabion Simms, Ash Nzala, Toyosi Olusanya, Shane Cojocarel and Tre Charles will miss out through injury.

Ahead of the game Cheshunt Manager Craig Edwards said: “Of course (we’ll be looking for a big response to the defeat at Maidstone), but to be fair the one thing I would say the boys can take a lot of confidence out of the game because they’ve shown when they’re at it they can compete with very good sides.

“We’ve lost games we shouldn’t lose, we’ve drawn a game we should’ve won, so it’s pretty much like it was this time last year.

“It wasn’t like you looked at us at this stage last year and thought ‘they’re going to get promoted’, we got better and better as the season went on, and I’ve got no doubt at all that the same will happen this season.”

Like the Ambers, Horsham were promoted to the Isthmian Premier Division last season, after the Hornets triumphed in the Isthmian South East Division play-offs.

Dominic Di Paola’s side have adapted well to life at step three and sit fifth in the division after collecting 14 points from their opening seven games.

The Hornets have lost just one of their previous five games, a 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Dartford. Prior to that Horsham had picked up victories over Metropolitan Police (3-2), Brightlingsea Regent (4-0) and Wingate & Finchley (2-1), and drawn with Metropolitan Police (1-1).

Horsham have no apparent injury concerns.

Saturday’s game takes place at the Stadium, Theobalds Lane, postcode EN8 8RU. Kick-off is 3pm, and admission prices are just £10 adults, £5 concessions and £1 U16s. COYAMBERS.
