Cheshunt welcome Lewes to Theobalds Lane this weekend for an important game between two sides in the bottom half of the Isthmian Premier Division.

The Ambers will be hoping to arrest a run of five consecutive defeats this weekend, with the 1-0 victory over Wingate & Finchley on Tuesday 1st October the last success.

That run has seen defeats to Leatherhead (3-0), Worthing (2-1), Folkestone Invicta (4-2), Enfield Town (2-1) and East Thurrock United (2-1), although four of those sides currently reside in the top six.

On the injury front Fabion Sims, Ash Nzala, Shane Cojocarel, Toyosi Olusanya, Ibrahim Diallo, Ambrose Gnahore and Sammy Collins all remain sidelined, whilst Mo Camara and Ola Williams have recovered from knocks and should feature.

Cheshunt Manager Craig Edwards has moved to bolster his squad this weekend with a number of new singings ahead of this weekend’s match. Tarh Ayuk-Taku (Maidstone United), Leon Lalor-Dell (Corinthian-Casuals), Sergen Erkarslan (Harlow Town), Reniq Senior (Chelsea Academy College) and Darius Ghinea (Chelsea Academy College) all join the Ambers.

Defender Bengt Anders Eriksson from IFK Ostersund and midfielder Amadou Kassarate, who has been playing professionally in the Czech Republic, are awaiting international clearance.

Ahead of the game, Craig Edwards said: “We have to break this run of losses, like I say, most of them have been pretty close and it’s a big game for us, but all games are going to be big for us now.

“When we got promoted, we thought every game would be a big game, and that’s how it’s turning out to be.”

“I was really disappointed to have gone out of the cup because I’d have liked to have had a run in it, but if you’d said to me take the choice, I’d take next week (Against Lewes) all day long.”

Lewes have won just one of their last five games in all competitions, and like the Ambers the Rooks sit in the bottom half of the table having picked up 12 points from their opening 12 games.

The Sussex-based side have actually had more success away from home so far this season, having picked up seven of their 12 points on the road.

Lewes have no apparent injury concerns.

Saturday’s game takes place at the Stadium, Theobalds Lane, postcode EN8 8RU. Kick-off is 3pm, and admission prices are just £10 adults, £5 concessions and £1 U16s. COYAMBERS.
