MATCH PREVIEW: LONDON COLNEY FC HERTS SENIOR CHALLENGE CUP QUARTER FINAL

17 Feb 2020

A PLACE IN THE LAST FOUR AWAITS THE VICTORS

A semi-final place and a game at home to Hemel Hempstead Town is at stake on Tuesday evening as the Ambers travel to London Colney in the Hertfordshire FA Challenge Cup.

Cheshunt will head into this tie flying high after two outstanding performances saw Lewes defeated 6-1 and Worthing defeated 3-1.

That ended a run of just one win in six games for Craig Edwards’ side who now sit 18th in the Isthmian Premier Division, which is two divisions above their opponents.

The Ambers reached the semi-finals of this competition last season, and after a 3-1 victory over Colney Heath in the previous round, they have the opportunity to reach that stage once again.

On the injury front, Ryan Moss and Sean Cronin are unlikely to feature, whilst Joe Re is set to miss out through suspension. Ibrahim Diallo is touch and go, whilst Tanasheh Abrahams, Tommie Hession-Harris and Mark Hughes could both return to the squad.

Spartan South Midlands Premier Division side London Colney have had a difficult season thus far, and are currently bottom of their division having collected just 12 points from their 25 games.

Like Cheshunt, the Blueboys were also out of action on Saturday due to Storm Dennis, with their last action coming in a 3-2 defeat to Baldock Town which extended their winless run to three games.

However, the bright point in London Colney’s season has come in their run to the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup, with Sawbridgeworth Town (7-0) and Tring Athletic (2-1) seen off in the first two rounds.

Tuesday’s game takes place at North Orbital Road, AL2 1DW, and kick-off is 7.45pm. COYAmbers
