WORTHING FC - SATURDAY 12th OCTOBER 2019
Cheshunt will be looking to return to winning ways this weekend as the Ambers host Worthing on Non-League Day.
The Ambers have won just one of their last four games heading into Saturday, a 1-0 victory over Wingate & Finchley, with defeats coming to Maidstone United (4-1), Horsham (1-0) and Leatherhead (3-0).
10 games into the new season Cheshunt sit 15th in the Isthmian Premier Division, having picked up 10 points, seven of which have come at home.
On the injury front, Fabion Simms, Shane Cojocarel, Ashley Nzala, Toyosi Olusanya and Sean Cronin are all sidelined, whilst Hafeez Sanusi, Cory Watson and Tre Charles have departed the club.
On a positive note, Ibrahim Diallo, Taylor McKenzie, Ola Williams and Henry Landers have all been passed fit, whilst Sammy Collins, Mo Camara and Mark Hughes are set to return to the side.
Cheshunt Manager Craig Edwards is looking for a response after last weekend’s defeat to Leatherhead, as he said: “(Saturday) was rock bottom, we’re not going to get worse than that I’m telling you, and we’ll put a side out that will really have a go, show some fight and if they get beat, so be it, but I aren’t having performances like that at all.”
Worthing have lost just one of their last six league games, with victories over Bognor Regis (3-0), Margate (2-0), Kingstonian (2-1) and Merstham (3-1), and a draw coming against Leatherhead (5-5).
Last time out Worthing fell to defeat at home to East Thurrock United, letting a 2-1 lead slip as they were defeated 3-2.
Adam Hinshelwood’s side have played a game less than the Ambers so far, and have picked up 16 points from their nine games, which sees them sit eighth in the division.
The Rebels will be without the services of goalkeeper Roco Rees who has returned to his parent club Brighton & Hove Albion, whilst Ross Edwards is an injury doubt after missing out on his side’s defeat to East Thurrock.
Saturday’s game takes place at the Stadium, Theobalds Lane, postcode EN8 8RU. Kick off is 3pm and admission is pay what you want in celebration of Non-League Day. Come on you Ambers.
