Match Reaction: Norwich Utd 2 – 2 Cheshunt

04 Apr 2017

Honours even with fellow play-off hopefuls Norwich United in a game both sides needed to win.

Cheshunt boss Paul Wickenden has urged the club to keep believing in the fight for a play-off place after the Ambers slipped to eighth in the league following this 2-2 draw.

The game started brightly for Cheshunt with hit man Jason Hallett on target midway through the first half. But Norwich were level only eight minutes later through a Lee Mason strike.

Five minutes after the break, Christy Finch broke into the box and fired across James May to give Norwich the lead. Cheshunt failed to take their chances before Luke Marshall headed home from a long through ball. Cheshunt continued to press for a winner but couldn’t find a way through the Norwich defence.

Wickenden said: “There’s a saying we all use at this club, and that is that we are stronger together. If there was ever a time this was true it’s now. We must keep believing and staying together.”

The Ambers next face Bury Town away on Saturday 8th April.
