MATCH REPORT: CHESHUNT FC 1-0 BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT FC

08 Sep 2019

OUR ROAD TO WEMBLEY CONTINUES.

A tight and well fought cup tie went the way of the hosts but not until a minute into time added on. Right back Ibs Diallo picked up on half way, cut inside and sent a cross from deep into the far post, Mo Camara rose highest and placed a powerful header across Charlie Turner in the Regent goal. The same player had hit the bar with the same move last week and had learned from it.
The first half saw tidy play from both teams but with little goalmouth action until the last 5 minutes. Brightlingsea striker Billy Hunt had two strikes managed by Cheshunt keeper Girling and Westcott for the Ambers had a free kick saved in the top corner.

The second half saw Regent pressure, forcing multiple corners, the home defence repelled, but looked a little desperate when faced with a four v two break, Hughes and Diallo cleaned up. At the other end Joe Re was just wide with a long range effort and Toyosi kept the back line back-pedalling.
Ace Howell had a chance to win the tie with a diving header, but went wide for Regent, then Camara made his move.
