A BANK HOLIDAY SCORCHER.
A late equaliser from Muhaned Maan salvaged a point for Corinthian Casuals after Tom Hitchcock had scored from the spot again for The Ambers.
Olusanya Olutosi and Dave Kendall came in for their first starts of the season for the hosts, with Afolabi Akinyemi making his debut for the home side also, with Jordan Westcott and Brian Moses dropping to the bench.
Both sides started the game in a slower rhythm (possibly to do with the sweltering heat!). Casuals were having the better of the openings, with Muhaned Maan flashing a 25 yard drive just side of Harry Girling’s right hand post.
Cheshunt were threatening too, and with 35 mins on the clock, Olusanya Olutosi surged into the opposition box, was brought down by Sadare-Morgan, and the referee pointed to the spot and Cheshunt had their third spot kick, in 4 home games! Tom Hitchcock stepped up, and notched away his third of the season to give the Ambers the lead. Cheshunt were in the ascendancy and a superb Joe Re knockdown was just behind Olutosi who was lurking at the far post. Casuals threatened in the counter, with Sertonij forcing a stunning low stop from Harry Girling. The rest of the half came to a close as the Ambers went in with a slender advantage.
HT – Cheshunt 1-0 Corinthian Casuals
Matty Bakare has the first chance of the half for the Casuals, with his curling effort just over the bar. Olusanya Olutosi was causing havoc again after the break, getting free on the right and drawing a superb save from Dan Bracken. The visiting keeper was called into action again, this time clawing away Joe Re’s thumping effort. The clock was ticking on and Casuals were starting to press, with Maxwell Oldham slashing an effort wide. Cheshunt were a threat however and Brian Moses could’ve wrapped the game up, but his effort was straight at Bracken. With the clock in injury time, a final Casuals attack, Mu Maan popped up and his miscued effort sneaks in off the post to send the Casuals fans and players wild, and steal a point from Theobald’s Lane.
