A game Cheshunt should have put away before half time, and had chances to close out in the second half as well saw them snatch defeat from the jaws of victory with some poor finishing and naive game management from the front line.
Cheshunt dominated the first half with Toyosi’s pace forcing the Margate defence into a clear at all cost policy. Toyosi played in on the left hit the side netting when a square pass was the better option, but redeemed himself to win a penalty with the same move. Alas Joe Re failed to convert with a weak effort to the keepers right, saved.
Elliott Reeves for Margate looked dangerous but his colleagues were failing to read the runs.
Dipo Akinyemi opened the scoring to mark Cheshunt’s dominance with a smart turn and drive across the keeper from 20 yards out.

Cheshunt allowed Margate back into the match second half as Cheshunt failed to deal with Kadell Daniel’s turns on the edge of the area, eventually resulting in the substitute being able to pass the ball into the corner of the Cheshunt net with a well placed finish to square the match. This woke Cheshunt up , but Re failed to convert when clean through, striking straight at the keeper, then when an unbelievable three on one developed Hitchcock contrived to blast over the bar when a square ball had two tap ins available.
Margate stole the points when a poor Cheshunt corner dropped to a blue foot and sent them away at pace, a challenge in the box deemed a penalty gave Kadell Daniel the chance to convert and the Margate faithful a smash & grab three points. (HB)
