Cheshunt welcomed Bracknell Town to ‘The Lane’ on a bitterly cold and wet Tuesday night. Taylor McKenzie returned to the starting 11 for the hosts, after missing out Saturdays 3-3 draw against Chipstead. Bracknell fielded a strong side, which included former Amber, Joe Gater
Both sides started the game trying to figure each other (and the conditions!) out. Junior Appiah miscued an early effort wide, as he threatened from the right after good work by Patrick Adamson. Olu Akinsanya, who was the Man of the Match on Saturday, was causing the defence problems, Mark Hughes was a handful too, forcing Grace into a low early save. Bracknell were always a threat on the attack too and the Ambers rear guard needed to be alert. A loose ball on the edge of the Cheshunt area was struck first time by Joe Gater, who’s effort crashed back off the bar. Adam Cornell was causing problems for the hosts too, and Bobby Mason had to be alert to stop him from giving Bracknell a half time lead.
HT – Cheshunt 0-0 Bracknell Town
The rain was playing a huge part in the second half, as the ball was constantly skidding on the increasingly wet surface. Christopher Grace done extremely well to hold onto the ball after Akinsanya fizzed a low effort towards him. Olu again broke through shortly after, but this time saw his effort blocked on the line by a well-placed Joe Gater. The tricky Ali Cherenti was introduced to the match with half an hour remaining, with Craig Edwards hopeful he could turn the tide! Liam Ferdinand broke free in the box for Bracknell but slid an effort wide. As the clock ticked into the final ten minutes, a long Cheshunt ball forward, was knocked on superbly by Patrick Adamson, and Olu Akinsanya smashed his drive low into the corner, to give the Ambers a deserved 1-0 lead! Sure enough, the Bracknell Alamo came, with Ferdinand again shooting wide and Adam Cornell forcing Bobby Mason into a wonder save!. Ali Cherenti managed to regain possession down the right for Cheshunt, he superbly beat his marker to stand an incredible cross up to the back post, for Olu Akinsanya to head home his second, and seal all three ponts for the Ambers, and send them up to third in the table!

Full Time – Cheshunt 2-0 Bracknell Town
After the game, Craig Edwards declared Ali Cherenti’s impact as ‘fantastic’, by saying “ When he came on, I thought, he could either win us this game, or lose it, He done superbly to set up the second goal, and his defensive application was much better, I can’t really see how I can leave him out, if he plays like that every game”.
