MATCH REPORT: CHESHUNT FC 2-2 HERTFORD TOWN FC

29 Dec 2018

HONOURS EVEN IN FIESTY A10 DERBY.

The Ambers made the perfect start start when Joe Re forced a corner & Dave Kendall rose highest to head home, and could have closed the game Mark Hughes hitting the bar & Olu Akinsanya blazing over from short range. The visitors clearly approached the match with spoiling tactics bordering on Sunday League, but did equalise from a needlessly given free kick, Jay Lovell stooping at the near post to head home.

Cheshunt had opportunities to score throughout the first half but squandered and paid the penalty when Ben Ward Cochrane latched on to a short pass back to slot home. The Ambers continued to create the better chances and skipper Mark Hughes overhead kick levelled the score.
Olu Akinsanya missed a penalty and Jordan Westcott fired over late on for the Ambers as Hertford held on for a derby day draw after the Ambers finished the stronger despite captain Hughes seeing red, finally reacting unfortunately, but understandably to the constant foul play aimed in his direction.
