NO JOY FOR THE AMBERS ON THE ROAD
The Ambers three match winning run came to an end with a 2-0 defeat to Horsham in West Sussex on Saturday afternoon.
Craig Edwards made 5 changes from the midweek cup win at London Colney, with Tanasheh Abrahams, Taylor McKenzie, Joe Re, Ryan Moss and Taylor Miles all coming into the side for Ola Williams, Ibs Diallo, Mark Hughes, Ethan Nelson-Roberts and Mo Camara.
The game got underway with Horsham on the front foot, with Lea Dawson driving wide from distance for the hosts. Chris Smith then got in behind Kassarate but his cross was smashed wide by Jack Birivo.
Cheshunt had their first effort on the 15 minute Mark, with Zack Newton twisting and turning but firing wide on his left foot. The hosts bright start continued however and the dominance showed with Lee Harding cutting inside and lashing an effort across Girling into the far corner to open the scoring on 22 minutes.
Cheshunt soon had a spell of pressure, when Moss had an effort superbly saved, and from a free kick, Taylor Miles curled one over.
However the game would turn on its head soon after, Amadou Kassarate had already picked up a very soft yellow card for handball, and was harshly adjudged to have bundled over the winger and was shown his marching orders to the bemusement of Cheshunt players, staff and fans. The half soon petered out after that with Cheshunt having a mountain to climb in the second half.
HT Horsham 1-0 Cheshunt
Horsham started the second half in good fashion, with Lee Harding heading the ball over when well placed. Cheshunts best chance came 5 minutes later, Tanasheh Abrahams worked the ball brilliantly down the left, and crossed for Ryan Moss who somehow turned the ball over from 4 yards out. From this resulting attack, Horsham stormed forward, Lee Harding picked the ball up on the right, drilled the ball across for Jack Birivo to tap home and double the lead with 53 minutes on the clock.
With time running out, Cheshunt had a few chances to get back into the match with efforts from Beckles-Richards, Moss, Reynolds and Cronin all getting near, but failing to hit the back of the net.
The final chance for the visitors saw Beckles-Richards storm down the right channel but his effort was beaten away by Bentley, which secured a win for the hosts.
