MATCH REPORT: NORTHWOOD FC 1-2 CHESHUNT FC

10 Jan 2019

THREE POINTS ON THE ROAD FOR THE AMBERS.

Northwood 1 Cheshunt 2. January 5th 2019

This was the first home defeat experienced
by Northwood since early September!
Midfielder Yvan Jourdan glided gracefully
through this match & was first to try his luck,
curling his shot over the bar.
Lawaba & Ofusu had tame chances that
didn’t trouble Harry Girling.
Yemi Adelani, making his debut for the
Ambers was constantly busy, fast and
moving across the Northwood back line, he
loosed off shots when the opportunities
arose and was a good foil for Olu Akinsanya.
Jon Munday in the Northwood defence was
kept busy organising his team. Emiel Aiken
joined the match from the bench when Asher
Silverman jarred a leg in a tackle/clearance.
Nicky Symons dropped into the back four to
accommodate the change.

Striker Jason Hallett came off the bench in the
second half & immediately posed a more
physical threat up front. Indeed he hit the bar
with a header early, and Olu Akinsanya
followed suit with a header from the resulting
corner.
Cheshunt opened the scoring when Taylor
McKenzie chased down a loose ball after
another corner, took it to the left side by line
and cut it back for Hallett to flick home from
close range.
Northwood levelled when full back Jenkins
fired home from the edge of the box, but the
home side failed to follow up , and the
Ambers put them back in their own half for
much of the rest of the match, Northwood
keeper was well beaten by a Hallett shot and
very grateful to turn and catch it on the
rebound off the post.
Yvan Jourdan finally found the perfect cross
for Hallett on the penalty spot, he buried a
powerful header into the corner to secure all
three points as the Ambers comfortably saw
out the game without any further threat.
Man of the Match. Jordan Westcott, there
were times when it looked there were 2 of him
out there
