This Saturday we are offering fans to Pay-What-You-Want for our game with Tooting & Mitcham Utd as part of Non League Day.
The initiative is aimed at encouraging more people to see the Ambers in action and to highlight the importance of affordable, volunteer-led local football. Supporters of both clubs, as well as neutrals, will be able to pay what they want at the turnstile with a minimum of £1.00.
Ambers Chairman Dean Williamson said: “We are delighted to offer our first Pay What You Want game. We have a fantastic club, with great facilities and a real sense of community that you do not find in the professional game. We want as many people as possible to experience the passion and excitement of non-league football, with the aim of attracting new, long-lasting fans to Cheshunt FC.”
Non League Day provides a platform for clubs to promote the importance of community football while giving fans across the country the chance to show support for their local non-league side.
Like many non-league clubs, Cheshunt FC is volunteer run, with all income funding our community programmes, teams and facilities, which are of benefit to the whole community.
There may not be 30,000+ fans at non-league games, but there are sides to the match day experience from which the smaller club will always win hands down compared to the premier league and professional game.
At Cheshunt our Saturday games still kick off at 3pm. You’ll see real talent from real people and will not be charged the earth for tickets and refreshments. You can stand (and drink) anywhere in the ground, chat with the players and manager after the game, and you will always be guaranteed a warm welcome by people who run our club for the love of the game.
Non-league football is just as much fun as the Premier League. It is after all the same game, just a fraction of the price and with a lot more connection to the players, manager and directors.
Always scheduled to coincide with an international break, Non League Day is backed by Premier League and Football League clubs, MPs, celebrities, media organisations, charities and most importantly the non-league clubs themselves and the fans who turn up on the day.
Some come along to our game on Saturday and you’ll see exactly what we mean. You’ll experience a fun, friendly, family atmosphere. Positive, supportive, generous of voice and spirit? this is a club with a real sense of community and social togetherness.
