Cheshunt FC First Team

Craig Edwards: Manager – A former professional boxer, Craig has managed multiple teams at steps 2, 3 and 4. He joined Cheshunt at the end season 17/18 in time to steer them clear of trouble, and set promotion as his target for 18/19 and met it with a fine unbeaten run at the business end of the season culminating in a ply off final win. Former clubs include Barkingside, Barking, Southend Utd Youth, Grays Athletic,  Redbridge, Chelmsford City, Dulwich Hamlet, Billericay and Kingstonian. Craig was inducted into the Isthmian League Radio Show Hall of Fame in 2017.

Peter Russell:  Goalkeeping Coach – Peter has been overseeing the goalkeeping activities at Cheshunt for 6 years and has a wealth of knowledge at non league level and contacts at high levels in the professional game to consult for the latest tools and techniques employed in the  higher leagues.

Ricky Sappleton: Coach – Jamaican born Ricky ‘Sapps’ Sappleton is still registered as a player but is currently engaged at Cheshunt passing on his experience in a coaching capacity. He first emerged from the QPR academy, having trials at Liverpool before joining Leicester City, catching the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson at one time. A striker who can also slot in at the back, his quick feet and vision will often light up a match. Sapps joined Cheshunt with manager Craig Edwards.

Mark Hughes: Player /Coach – Northern Ireland International and product of Tottenham Hotspur’s academy,  Mark played professionally for Northampton Town, Chester, Stevenage, Oldham & Barnet, famous for scoring the goal that kept Barnet in the football league on the last day of season 2011/12.  He joined from Bishop Stortford at the start of 2018/19 season, and captained the Ambers to promotion. He continues to add his experience on the pitch as a player, whilst taking charge of  1st team coaching sessions in the week.

Harry Girling – Goalkeeper – 21 year old goalkeeper picked up from Millwall FC,  Girling has caught the eye with some spectacular saves in the three seasons he has been with Cheshunt, he has had plenty of competition for the keeper’s position between the sticks,  thrived on the challenge and come out on top each time,  look out for his distribution setting the Ambers onto the front foot & his ability to launch a dead ball kick into the final third.

Ibs Diallo – Defender – Joined the Ambers at the start of this season having previously played at Burgess Hill, Billericay, & Wealdstone. A product of the Parisian Banlieue, Bondy, famous for producing footballers, Ibs plays a rightback/wingback role but can switch as cover as required. He requires no invite to venture forward and has contributed important goals drifting into the box to place low drives into the far corner.

Jamie Reynolds – Defender – Joined the Ambers recently,   Jamie is another product Tottenham Hotspur Academy, a left back/wing back,   noted as a tidy player who rarely wastes a pass.

Joe Re – Midfield – A Hertfordshire player who made it through the youth set ups locally to secure a place in the Nottingham Forest Academy.  Joe joined Cheshunt in 2018 and was a regular starter in the promotion winning team last season,  Joe keeps the ball moving with his passing and will always look for a shooting opportunity when in range.

Taylor McKenzie – Defender – Has played professionally for Notts County, after a youth career with Spurs , Norwich and Sheffield Wednesday, Taylor has played at this level for Chesham Utd and was signed from Enfield Town.

Ola Williams – Defender – Ola was signed at the beginning of this season from league rivals Wingate & Finchley,  a versatile player who can play on both sides of the pitch and at full back or further forward as a wide midfield.Ola has  a wide experience at step 3 having played at Bromley & Harrow Boro previously

Mo Camara – Utility – Mo is the big guy the opposition appear to bounce off with alarming regularity. He is equally at home at Centre Half or Centre Mid, and can contribute goals regularly winning headers with late runs. Mo is another Parisian,  starting his career in Les Pavillions – sous-Bois, in the Ile de France region near to Ibs.

Ash Nzala – Forward – Signed as a striker to compete with Jason Hallett in 2018, Ash showed a lot of promise and contributed some important goals towards the end of last season. Ash has been desperately unlucky this season, breaking his ankle in the last pre season warm up game, back doing some light running now, we look forward to seeing him back competing for a starting place late in the season.

Fabion Simms – Midfield – A Harlow Town favourite  signed at the beginning of 2019/20 season,  Fabz is another injury casualty, starting just three games before rupturing an Achilles tendon. He has played for Potters Bar & Wingate Finchley and was forming a promising partnership with Mo Camara before his season was cut short, currently doing some light training with a view to making a start before the season closes.

Tanasheh Abrahams – 25 year left sided player with plenty of Isthmian Premier experience with Dulwich Hamlet, Staines, Wingate Finchley, and has also played abroad with Ferroviarro and Mamelodi Sundowns on loan from Barnet.

Ryan Moss – Striker – An experienced striker starting to find the net regularly as he settles into the side, having joined in November 19.  Experience has taken Ryan to multiple clubs including Dorchester, Bashley, AFC Totton Havant & Waterlooville, Kingstonian, Margate, Dulwich Hamlet. Hampton & Richmond,  and Harrow Borough.

Norman Wabo – Norman joined Southend United at the age of 15, after being scouted playing in an Essex county game and signed his first professional deal with Southend, he has since played at League 2, Conference and Isthmian Premier levels, and scored on his debut v Barking recently. Norman is on loan to Cheshunt from Dartford.

Sean Cronin – Defender – Sean is another signing from Wingate & Finchley, who has also played at Grays Athletic & Wealdstone. Welsh born & not afraid to tell you, having started at Cardiff City, and has also played in the Welsh Premier league for Neath FC,  Sean also has international credentials having played for Wales at under 18, 19 and 23 level. He is a lifelong Swansea City fan.

Ethan Nelson Roberts – Midfield – Another AFC Wimbledon Youth player, captain of the academy, Ethan is energetic and combative in midfield, He  joined  during 2019/20 season. He made one appearance for Wimbledon in the EFL trophy, before seeking first team football elsewhere.

Zack Newton – Forward – Zack has experience at this level having represented both Welling & Worthing,  Cheshunt signed Zack from Horsham this season.  Strong on the ball with a low centre of gravity, once in possession he is difficult to move off the ball , and can open up defences with his fast feet. He also contributes goals cutting inside and is another prepared to shoot on sight.

Amadou Kassarate  – Midfield A – Senegal u20 International, Amadou has played professional football in Scotland  (Dumbarton & Stanraer) & Greece (Thesprotos, winning the Greek play offs) and has a wealth of experience. This is his second spell at Cheshunt having made appearances at the end of the 17/18 season helping the club ease clear of relegation concerns.

Shane Cojacarel  – Forward – A youth player at QPR & Barnet, moving into the professional ranks while at Barnet, Shane has played for multiple teams at this level and was instrumental in the Ambers winning the play off in season 18/19 with two goals in the final, having averaged a goal a game in the run up to the final. Looking to force his way back into contention after picking up an injury at Bognor Regis when he was targetted and taken out of the game

Reece Beckles Richards – Striker – A former Cheshunt youth player (aged 8) When Paolo Fletcher first spotted him playing up 2 age groups. Reece is an international having represented Antigua & Barbuda , and is on loan from Wealdstone FC until February. Reece had clocked up over 100 appearances for Wingate & Finchley before his transfer to Wealdstone.

Tommie Hession Harris – Midfield – Signed from Tonbridge Angels this season, Tommie has added an extra level of energy to central midfield and is the chief spoiler, breaking up opposition build ups before they get to the final third.  Tommie learnt his trade via the Spurs and Southend academies, before travelling to California to study and play on the US West Coast.

Khalifa Jabbie – Midfield – A Sierra Leone international,made his full international debut for Sierra Leone on March 27, 2011, against Niger in a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualification match. He has played at pro level in Sweden, Turkey and Sierra Leone, joining Cheshunt in November 2019.
